New Isle of Man Data Protection Law
Published On:Tuesday, June 5, 2018
The final draft of the last element of the new data protection law in the Island, the GDPR and LED Implementing Regulations 2018, has been made available prior to being laid before the June sitting of Tynwald. Once the Implementing Regulations have been approved by Tynwald, subject to some transitional arrangements and savings, the new law comes into effect on 1 July 2018.
A guidance note on how the various elements of the law work together has therefore been published, with particular focus on which of the Implementing Regulations apply to businesses. This is available below.
The Implementing Regulations can be found on the old consultation page (https://consult.gov.im/cabinet-office/new-data-protection-bill/ ) or directly via this link - https://consult.gov.im/cabinet-office/new-data-protection-bill/results/gdprregulations2018.pdf . Any comments should be submitted to the Cabinet Office.
