2016 Code of Practice on Access to Government Information

Complaints made through a Member of Tynwald to the Information Commissioner will be investigated by the Information Commissioner.

The Commissioner will write to the Department to establish how the request was handled and may require access to papers and records.  Departments should allow the Commissioner to see all papers relevant to a request.

the Commissioner will consider the information provided by the Department and the applicant and will make a decision.

Decisions will be advised to the complainant and the Department and will be published.

Decisions are not binding. 

However, in the event of an adverse decision from the Commissioner, it is expected that a Department would normally seek to implement the decision.
